All About the Reimagined 2024 All-Electric Chevrolet Silverado and How to Get Yours

Earlier this month, Chevrolet unveiled the 2024 Silverado EV electric pickup truck at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022 in Las Vegas. When it starts rolling off the line at GM's Factory Zero in Detroit in 2023, it will be available in two trims to start: the fully loaded, consumer-oriented RST (Rally Sport Truck) First Edition and the paired-back, fleet-centric WT (Work Truck).

Developed from the ground up as a fully electric truck on GM’s advanced Ultium EV Platform, the Silverado EV offers a boundary-breaking combination of capability, performance, and versatility, along with advanced technologies that can evolve the vehicle over time.

Expected features of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV

Full features and colors will be announced by Chevrolet closer to the start of the production year. The EV is the reimagining of the brand’s best-selling nameplate, packed with the power and capability expected of Chevy Trucks, offering:

 ●      Expected 400-mile range on a full charge

●      Up to 664 horsepower with more than 780 lb-ft of torque in “Wide Open Watts” mode on RST

●      Standard DC fast charging (up to 350kW)

●      Up to 10.2kW of offboard power with optional equipment

●      Up to 10,000 pounds of maximum trailering with up to 1,300 pounds of payload on RST

A power-packed truck

The Silverado EV is powered by a set of front- and rear-drive motors that produce a combined 664 horsepower in the RST model and 510 horsepower in the WT version. Several different battery options will likely be offered down the road, but the Silverado EV will initially debut with the longest-range battery, which GM estimates can provide a driving range of 400 miles on a full charge and will be able to handle charging up to 350 kilowatts, which can add about 100 miles of range in about 10 minutes at full clip. Like the F-150 Lightning, the Silverado EV will be able to feed power to tools or other items at a jobsite or campsite, with 10 outlets offering up to 10.2 kW of power.

Decked out with all the latest in technology

The Silverado EV is loaded with tech, whether it's in the cabin or hidden inside the body. RST models will get a standard adaptive air suspension that can adjust the truck's ride height by about 2 inches. Four-wheel steering is included, as well. Since it's the fully loaded trim, it's no surprise that the Silverado EV RST packs some major cabin tech. The standard infotainment screen measures 17 inches, with an extra 11-inch configurable gauge display. The WT downsizes that a bit, offering an 11-inch telematics solution with an 8-inch digital cluster.

This sounds awesome, but how much?

The WT trim level will be the first to arrive in spring 2023 with a starting price of $39,900 before destination and freight charges. The fully loaded RST First Edition will launch in the fall of 2023, with prices starting at $105,000 not including DFC. Chevy says that after production ramps up, it will “unleash the full Silverado EV portfolio,” including a Trail Boss variant and other models occupying the $50,000, $60,000, $70,000, and $80,000 price ranges.
