Chrysler Pacifica Best Vehicle For Handicap And Wheelchair Users

If there’s one thing that the auto industry could be better at, it’s making their vehicles friendly and accessible to wheelchair users and people with disabilities. Even with the existing technology that exists to make vehicles more disability-friendly, people in wheelchairs often struggle to find a vehicle that meets all of their needs while also providing a comfortable experience, whether they’re a passenger or a driver.

One company, at least, is taking up the issue in a big way. At the 2017 Chicago Auto Show, Chrysler unveiled the new, up-fitted BraunAbility Pacifica, which has been designed to be the ultimate wheelchair-friendly vehicle. Here at our Chrysler Indianapolis dealership, we’re incredibly excited to see what this vehicle has in store.

A Revolution in Wheelchair-Friendly Design

When it comes to what sets the BraunAbility Chrysler Pacifica apart, Chrysler gets right down to it; according to the news release introducing the vehicle to drivers, the company describes it as “the most spacious wheelchair-accessible vehicle in the industry.”

Further, Chrysler highlights the BraunAbility Pacifica’s sleek design and groundbreaking AccessAbility technology, which includes an aerospace-inspired sliding door extension, cantilevered seat bases that expand the amount of interior cabin space, and an aerospace-inspired sliding door extension.

As the vehicle’s name implies, this groundbreaking version of the Pacifica is a collaboration between Fiat Chrysler and BraunAbility, the largest manufacturer of wheelchair-accessible vehicles and wheelchair lifts in the world.

In order to ensure quality, BraunAbility and Chrysler made sure to source the components for their respective contributions from the same place; by obtaining the parts from the same company, the two companies were able to make sure that everything fit together perfectly, and that the components which were incorporated into the vehicle matched the designs as much as possible.

In addition to the innovations in wheelchair accessibility, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is just an all-around great vehicle. At this year’s North American International Auto Show, the Pacifica was named the 2017 North American utility vehicle of the year.

Additional Savings

In addition to the BraunAbility Pacifica’s technological and design innovations, the vehicle also comes with the chance for buyers to save additional money. The BraunAbility Pacifica has been added to the list of Chrysler vehicles that are eligible for its Automobility program, which provides buyers with up to $1,000 in reimbursements for the cost of installing qualifying adaptive driver and/or passenger equipment to make a vehicle more wheelchair-user-friendly.

Additionally, Chrysler and BraunAbility have announced that they have teamed up to promote Canine Companions for Independence, an incredible group that trains assistance dogs for people with special needs.

Canine Companions for Independence trains assistance dogs at six locations around the country and provides them to people in need, making them an incredibly worthy charity to support, especially in conjunction with a vehicle as friendly to people with disabilities as the BraunAbility Chrysler Pacifica.
